Jacqueline Fernandez was born in Manama and was raised by an ethnically diverse, multiracial family. Jacqueline's father Elroy is a Sri Lankan (Catholic Sinhalese) and her mother, Kim is Malaysian. Jacqueline has two older brothers as well as a younger sister. Due to unrest in Lanka, her parents were forced to relocate to Bahrain during the 1980s. She was given a scholarship to study at an undergraduate program at the University of Sydney in Sydney Australia following the completion of her studies in Bahrain. To further develop her passion for the world of languages, cultures and languages, she joined the Berlitz schools of languages where she was able to learn Spanish as well as improve French and Arabic. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 was crown in March 2006; she also participated in Miss Universe 2006 Following her victory in 2006, Miss Sri Lanka win, Padukone made her debut on television as host of a TV show on Sri Lankan business known as Lanka Business Report. Padukone is the child of and badminton world champion Prakash Padukone. Padukone grew up in Bangalore, but she was born in Copenhagen. Padukone played in the national championships when she was young teenagers, however she decided to give her sports career up to pursue a career as a model. Padukone is of Mangalorean roots and speaks Konkani as her native language. Padukone is located in Kundapura Taluk located in Udupi in Karnataka State in India, is where her lineage is derived from. Her father, Prakash Padukone, is an international badminton champion who is now retired. Her mom is a traveling agent.
